There are few things more important to your child's safety in a car than the LATCH system, and if you didn't know, all cars go through a LATCH inspection to determine how safe and easy to use a LATCH system in a car is. While all LATCH systems are evaluated, you might not understand a lot about how they're evaluated and what you can expect from some of the newer systems.

Firstly, LATCH stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children, and the LATCH evaluation system not only ensures that the LATCH system in a car is safe, but it also evaluates how easy it is to use this type of system. It, however, doesn't evaluate the overall safety of the vehicle, such as the airbag system.

While a LATCH system might have a high rating, the overall safety rating might not be the same as the LATCH rating.
